Carolyn Barnett-Howe
PGA Professional

Carolyn is no slouch in the golf world. An Appleton (WI) East High School alum, Carolyn graduated from the University of New Mexico, competing on their nationally-ranked women’s golf team. A PGA member since 1991, she served eight years on the Wisconsin Board of Directors. She has twice qualified for the Women’s U.S. Open, was the 1998 Women’s Wisconsin State Open Champion, and has successfully qualified for the Men’s Wisconsin State Open seven times (one of only three women to qualify in state history…the only woman to accomplish this feat more than once).

In 1997, Carolyn founded Swing Solutions in Menasha with her brother Steve Barnett. At Swing Solutions, Carolyn provides golf instruction, video swing analysis, and performance enhancement programs year round.

In today’s society, golf is an industry, a sport, a social activity, and a business tool – each facet offering significant economic impact in the community. Unfortunately, golf can also be considered “exclusive.” Over the years, Carolyn has witnessed people who have not been exposed to golf face exclusion from business trips, social activities, and more. Her vision is to make golf accessible. She created a curriculum to teach golf basics in a place that reaches across economic and social boundaries: elementary schools. Exposing children to golf enables them to seize opportunities to participate later in life. Best of all, they learn more than how to play the game. Golf is a game of honor and integrity. After all, it is the only sport where participants call penalties upon themselves.

Carolyn lives in Appleton with her husband, PGA Pro Steve Howe. Since their children are now grown, they spend some of the year each winter in Florida, playing golf and working with others committed to golf to develop ways to grow the game.
