Protect Your Back While Spring Cleaning! 

Spring cleaning shouldn’t lead to spring injuries. Physical Therapist Anna Evers shares quick tips on how to safely squat, bend, and reach so you can freshen up your home without straining your back. Here are a few quick tips to keep your back safe: 

✔ Hinge, don’t hunch – Bend at your hips and knees when lifting, keeping your chest up and back flat.

✔ Breathe with the effort – Inhale to prepare, exhale during the hard part of lifting or scrubbing. 

✔ Keep items close – When vacuuming, keep the handle close and move your whole body instead of twisting. 

✔ Avoid overhead strain – Use a step stool for high windows and keep your shoulders relaxed.

✔ Take breaks – Engage your core and stretch every 20–30 minutes. Take care of your body while you clean — your back will thank you! 💪
