September: The Month To Refocus And Reset

Resetting and Refocusing Goals for the Remainder of the Year
As the year moves into its final stretch, it’s natural to reflect on the intentions we set months ago. Maybe you started the year with energy and structure but somewhere along the way life got busy, distractions took over, or priorities shifted. The good news? It’s never too late to reset and refocus your goals. In fact, the last few months of the year can be a powerful opportunity to create meaningful momentum.

Pause and Reflect
Begin by checking in with yourself. What goals did you set at the start of the year? Which ones still feel aligned, and which no longer serve your current lifestyle or values? Allow yourself the grace to release goals that don’t feel relevant anymore. Resetting isn’t about starting over, it’s about recalibrating.

Simplify and Prioritize
Rather than trying to tackle everything at once, choose one to three areas of focus. Maybe you want to improve your sleep routine, strengthen relationships, or make consistent progress toward a personal project. Narrowing your goals helps reduce overwhelm and increases the likelihood of success.

Break It Down
Big intentions often falter when they remain vague. Instead of “get healthier,” commit to walking three times a week or cooking two more meals at home. Breaking larger goals into smaller, actionable steps makes them manageable and keeps motivation high.

Revisit Your Why
Connecting your goals to a deeper reason gives them more importance in your life. Ask yourself: Why does this matter to me right now? Whether it’s cultivating more energy, reducing stress, or feeling more confident, keeping your “why” in mind will help you stay consistent when challenges arise.

Build in Accountability
Tell a friend, write your goals in a journal, or set reminders on your phone. Accountability doesn’t have to be rigid—it just needs to create gentle nudges that keep you on track.

As the year winds down, think of this season not as a countdown but as a launchpad. Resetting now allows you to end the year with intention, clarity, and pride in the progress you’ve made—no matter how small the steps may be.

Tara wanted to become a physical therapist assistant because she knew it would give her an opportunity to connect with people through movement. She strives to educate patients on how to move and exercise properly as they work towards their goals. Tara believes, “To live well we have to move well.”

Tara enjoys helping educate her patients by making them be active participants in their care while working towards their goals. “I want my patients to know why I am doing what I am doing and how their body works. I want them to leave not only feeling better but with the knowledge to continue moving well.”

Tara started with OST in October of 2022. She is originally from Marquette Michigan, and is now living in Green Bay with her husband, Ryan, and their kitty, Obi. Outside of work, Tara enjoys mountain biking, running, hiking, and working on puzzles.
